Beginner Walkthrough: Your First Hour
Last updated:
This walkthrough walks you through your first hour in Build A Beehive, the Roblox tycoon from developer fantastic_games. You spawn with $10, an empty garden, and no bees. By the end of this guide, you will have a functioning hive, understand the collect-sell-buy-plant loop, and be on track to purchase your first Tulip ?the mid-game flower that transforms your income. Follow each phase in order. If you need broader context on mechanics, read our how to play guide alongside this walkthrough.
Phase 1: Spawn and Orient (Minutes 0?)
When you first load into Build A Beehive, you appear near the flower shop with $10 starting cash. Before spending anything, take thirty seconds to learn the three teleport buttons at the top of your screen: Buy (flower shop), Sell (honey buyer), and Beehive (your personal garden). These buttons define the entire game ?you will use them hundreds of times per session.
Click the Beehive button to teleport to your garden. Walk to the back of the plot and locate the hive area. This is where bees deposit pollen and where you will collect honey. Identify the flower plots closest to the hive ?these prime slots are where every important flower should go for the rest of your playthrough. Open the right-side bee sidebar panel so you can monitor bee stats once they arrive.
Before buying anything, visit our codes page and redeem any active codes. Free seeds from codes should be planted in the closest plot to the hive, not saved for later. A code-rewarded mid-tier flower can skip the entire Daisy phase of this walkthrough.
Phase 2: First Purchase and Plant (Minutes 5?0)
- Click Buy to teleport to the flower shop.
- Purchase the cheapest available seed with your $10 ?usually a Daisy.
- Click Beehive to return to your garden.
- Select the seed from your inventory using number keys and click the plot closest to the hive to plant it.
- Wait for the flower to finish growing. Daisies grow quickly ?typically under a minute.
Do not plant in a front-row plot. Distance from the hive directly controls how much honey your bee produces per minute. One well-placed Daisy outperforms three Daisies scattered across distant plots. This placement rule matters more than any other early-game decision. Our early game build guide explains why in more detail.
Phase 3: First Bee and Honey Collection (Minutes 10?0)
Once your Daisy finishes growing, a Daisy Bee arrives and begins traveling between the flower and the hive. Open the bee sidebar and note its stats: roughly 12 m/s speed and 5 pollen carry capacity. These numbers are low, but they are enough to fund your next purchases.
Wait until the hive accumulates a visible amount of honey, then walk to the hive and hold E to collect all honey at once. On mobile, use the interact button instead. After collecting, click Sell at the top of the screen, then choose Sell ALL Honey to convert your honey into cash at $1 per liter.
Congratulations ?you have completed one full economic cycle. Every dollar you earn from this point forward funds better flowers, which attract stronger bees, which produce more honey. Repeat the wait-collect-sell rhythm two or three more times before returning to the shop.
Phase 4: Shop Restocks and Saving (Minutes 20?5)
The flower shop restocks its inventory every five minutes. Higher-tier flowers like Tulips appear randomly and sell out within seconds. This is the most important timing mechanic in Build A Beehive. Do not spend all your cash on cheap filler seeds every time you visit the shop.
During this phase, your goal is to accumulate enough cash for a Tulip while keeping your Daisy producing near the hive. Check the shop after each restock cycle. If no Tulip appears, buy nothing and return to your garden. If a Tulip is available and you can afford it, buy it immediately and plant it in the second-closest plot to the hive.
Resist the urge to fill every empty plot with cheap flowers. Each distant Daisy you plant creates a slow bee that contributes almost nothing to your income. An empty plot is better than a misplacement. Focus your budget on one or two hive-adjacent flowers instead of spreading thin across the entire garden.
Phase 5: First Tulip Upgrade (Minutes 35?0)
The Tulip is your first major milestone. It attracts a Tulip Bee with approximately 14 m/s speed and 130 pollen carry ?a 26x increase in payload per trip compared to the Daisy Bee. This single upgrade can multiply your honey income several times over, especially when planted in a prime hive-adjacent slot.
When you purchase a Tulip, plant it in the closest available plot to the hive. If your Daisy still occupies that slot and is performing adequately, plant the Tulip in the second-closest plot instead. Once the Tulip grows and its bee arrives, compare sidebar stats between your Daisy Bee and Tulip Bee. The difference will be immediately obvious.
After your Tulip bee is active, continue the collect-sell cycle. Your income should ramp noticeably. Use the shovel tool (press 1 on PC) to remove any distant cheap flowers that are wasting plots. Free those slots for future upgrades rather than letting weak bees linger.
Phase 6: Consolidate and Plan Ahead (Minutes 50?0)
By the end of your first hour, you should have: a functioning hive with at least one hive-adjacent flower, experience with the Buy-Sell-Beehive teleport rotation, awareness of the five-minute shop restock timer, and either a Tulip planted or enough cash to buy one at the next restock.
Your next priorities after this walkthrough: save for additional Tulips or Sunflowers during restocks, keep upgrading prime plots before filling distant ones, redeem new codes as they release, and read the progression walkthrough for mid-game advancement. Check the flower tier list to know which flowers to target at each income level.
First Hour Checklist
- Redeemed active codes and planted rewards near the hive
- Bought and planted first flower in a prime plot
- Collected honey with E and sold via Sell ALL Honey
- Learned Buy, Sell, and Beehive teleport buttons
- Checked shop during at least one five-minute restock
- Purchased or saved for first Tulip upgrade
- Avoided filling distant plots with cheap filler flowers
Build A Beehive rewards players who understand placement and shop timing over those who click fastest. Follow this walkthrough once, internalize the loop, and every subsequent session will feel faster and more profitable.
